Clogged Drain in Paris? Fast English-Speaking Plumber
Clogged drains are the most common plumbing issue in Paris apartments -- you are not the first and will not be the last. Paris hard water accelerates buildup in old pipes. We have the equipment to clear any blockage quickly and cleanly.
What to Do Right Now
Follow these steps while you wait for our plumber to arrive:
Stop using the blocked fixture
Adding more water will cause overflow. If the sink or shower is filling up, stop running water immediately.
Try boiling water (kitchen sink only)
For kitchen sinks, slowly pour a full kettle of boiling water. This can dissolve grease blockages. Do NOT use boiling water on porcelain toilets -- it can crack them.
Do not use chemical drain cleaners
Store-bought drain chemicals can damage old Parisian pipes and make the problem worse. They are also dangerous if a plumber needs to work on the drain afterward.
Call us for professional clearing
We use professional equipment including drain cameras and hydro-jetting. We clear the blockage and show you what caused it so you can prevent it happening again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I try a supermarket drain unblocker first?
We would rather you did not. These products struggle with hair and grease in a pipe already narrowed by limescale, they can damage older Paris waste pipework, and they leave a pool of caustic liquid for whoever opens the trap next. If you have already used one, say so when you call so the plumber arrives prepared.
Several drains are slow at once. Does that change anything?
It changes a great deal. One slow fixture is local to that fixture. Several at once, or water rising in the lowest fixture in the flat, means the blockage is further downstream, in the branch serving the whole flat or in the building's shared stack. When it is the shared stack, it is the copropriété's responsibility and not yours.
Does boiling water help?
On a kitchen sink it can, because the usual blockage there is congealed grease. Pour it slowly. Never use boiling water on a toilet: the thermal shock can crack the ceramic and turn a blockage into a replacement pan.
Why does the same drain keep blocking?
Usually because of the pipe rather than what goes into it. Limescale narrowing the bore, a section laid with too little fall during a past renovation, or a damaged joint will all catch debris in the same spot indefinitely. A camera inspection identifies which, and the repair ends the cycle.
The drain was already slow when I arrived. Am I liable?
No. A pre-existing blockage is the owner's responsibility. Photograph it, tell the host or agency, and let us deal with them directly so nothing comes out of your pocket.
