Shower Not Working in Paris? Fixed in Under 2 Hours
A broken shower when you are on holiday is truly miserable. We understand the urgency and prioritize rental property calls. Most shower issues are caused by Paris hard water damaging internal parts -- we fix them fast with quality replacement parts.
What to Do Right Now
Follow these steps while you wait for our plumber to arrive:
Check if the issue is hot water only
If only hot water is missing, the problem is likely your water heater, not the shower itself. Try hot water at the kitchen sink to confirm.
Check other faucets for pressure
If all faucets have low pressure, the issue is building-wide. If only the shower is affected, it is a local fixture problem.
Try removing the shower head
Unscrew the shower head and run the water. If flow improves dramatically, the shower head is clogged with limescale. Soak it in white vinegar overnight.
Call us for a proper repair
We carry replacement cartridges, valves, and parts for all common shower fixtures used in Paris apartments. Most repairs take under an hour.

Tip for Guests
French showers often have a small lever or button to switch between the bath faucet and the shower head (called a "inverseur"). If water comes out of the faucet but not the shower head, look for a pull-up tab on the faucet spout or a small button on the fixture.

“Low water pressure in our Montmartre shower was ruining the morning routine. Turned out to be mineral deposits in the mixing valve. Cleaned and replaced the cartridge. Full pressure restored!”

Frequently Asked Questions
No hot water in the shower but hot at the basin. Why?
That points at the shower mixer rather than the water heater. The usual causes are a scaled or worn thermostatic cartridge stuck on cold, or a diverter that is not routing water correctly. If nothing anywhere in the flat is hot, the problem is the heater instead.
The pressure is weak. Do I need a new shower?
Rarely. Check the shower head first, since Paris limescale closes the jets and a head can usually be soaked clean. After that, likely causes are a partly closed isolating valve, a scaled hose, or genuinely lower pressure on an upper floor of a building with no booster pump. Replacing the mixer fixes none of those.
The temperature keeps swinging between hot and cold. Is that dangerous?
It is worth fixing promptly, especially if anyone vulnerable uses the shower. On a thermostatic mixer this is the thermostatic element failing, usually from scale; on a manual mixer it is normally another outlet in the flat or the building drawing water and changing the balance. The first is a cartridge replacement.
Why is my shower so much weaker than the one at home?
Paris flats often run at lower pressure than visitors expect, particularly on upper floors of tall buildings fed by a long riser. Combined with hard water closing up the shower head over time, the drop is real rather than imagined. Cleaning or replacing the head is usually the cheapest meaningful improvement.
I am a guest and the shower barely works. Who pays?
The owner, in the normal case. A worn cartridge or a scaled head is wear on the property. Tell your host and let us contact them so we can invoice them directly; if they will not agree, we tell you before we dispatch.
